Native
American Days - Angel Mounds State Historic Site - Featuring The Aztec
Fire Dancers
- Sept. 23-25, 2005 Falling in the middle of a busy weekend, of my son's Cub football game, high school football, and an Arts Festival, I wasn't able to cover Native American Days in the complete fashion I wanted to, but did manage to at least make sure to NOT miss the dancing! -Self Assignment- |

SHOAH
Foundation Visual History Archive Sept. 19, 2005 Evansville Vanderburgh Central Library's "Indiana Room" is now home to the tri-state collection of 115 recorded visual testimonies from Holocaust Survivors from Indiana, Kentucky, & Illinois. SHOAH, the Hebrew word for calamity or catastrophe, is also the Hebrew term for the Holocaust. (1941-1945) Founded by filmmaker Steven Speiburg in 1994, The Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation has recorded 52,000 first person video testimonials. With the help of educators and volunteers, the goal is to teach the lessons of the Holocaust to promote tollerance and respect among all people, especially children. Also unveiled at the ribbon-cutting, "Remembrance", an absolutely beautiful sculpture created by John McNaughton. On a personal note, it was a great honor for me to have had the pleasure of shaking the hand of Mr. Ernie Marx, a Holocaust survivor, (speaking, below/left). It was a special day! -Assignment-Tucker Publishing-Evansville Living Magazine- |
