LST 325 Arrival - Oct. 3, 2005 - Aerial Photos

"Just Ducky"

One of the great things about being a photographer; those seemingly rare times when you have just a little bit of personal time, a sudden impulse, nice light,
and are able to make a pleasing picture......"just because".

Friday, Sept. 30th, 2005 was one of those times.

After dropping my son off at school, and between two morning appointments, I had 10 or 15 minutes to kill, and it was a beautiful and crisp morning, so a quick
detour into the State Hospital grounds was a natural choice.
It's nice there, and even without a camera it's a great place to just relax and re-energize in this small island of tranquilty
surrounded by "the rat race" in the form of four of the busier "bumper car trails" on the East side; Lincoln, Lloyd, Vann, & the Green.

iI parked the car, got out, made a few quick snaps of some geese which were milling around in the early morning dew, when I happened to turn toward the lake and saw a Mallard which had just taken flight from the water, and headed for the shore.
Shooting with the 300 2.8 already, I turned, and managed to fire one quick frame just before he landed.... sorta hoped that maybe it might be an
okay shot.... got back in the car, and went on to my appointments.

Later in the morning I arrived home with a fresh cup of Joe, and quickly found my "Picture of the Day".
No real story, theme, or reason for this photo to be here, other than I just like it, and hope you who view it will enjoy it as well!

It's no Eagle soaring in a Montana sky, but hey, ya takes what ya gets sometimes!

Having just commenting that there is no real reason for this image to be here, I'd like to ammend that.
For those who truly enjoy photography, we've all let out that deep sighhh, when some idea or shoot failed to live up to our expectations for whatever reason, so

the moral of this little story is to take that extra 10 minutes when you have the chance, and make a picture.
You might just be glad you did!

Funk in the City Art Festival
Sept. 24, 2005 - Haynies Corner
-Self Assignment-

Funk in the Park appears to have been a resounding success! Kids literally had a blast in the "Kids Only Discovery District", as seen above, as USI chemistry
students provided a demonstration using liquid nitrogen to create a huge "boom" as the controled explosion lifts a garbage can into the air.

Plenty of great artistic works were on hand, as well as stage entertainment.
My personal favorite was the band Autumn Jones, but there was something for everybody, to be sure!

I'll be back next year!

Photo Shoot for Martial Arts Website - Sept. 19, 2005
It's an honor to have been chosen to provide images for Morris Dynamics' website.
A recent shoot concentrated on photos of one of the instructors, and some of my personal favorites are below.
The simple goal has been to make the images both illustrate, and match in quality, the professionalism of the staff.
Morris Dynamics is a top notch martial arts training facility with talented, highly skilled staff and dedicated students.
It's been a pleasure working with the staff of Morris Dynamics and their website designer, Epiphany Web Designs!
